“The LORD is close to the Brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit” (Psalm 34:18).
Life on earth is so short and no amount of fame, money, brilliance, talent, charisma or good looks can bring happiness. They’re all transitory. I know that if God hadn’t intervened in my life, I would have eventually been overtaken by addiction, despair or both.
The difference today is that I have God in my life. My God is bigger than my problems. It’s when we let our problems become bigger than God that they can consume us.
This is why they say in recovery meetings: “…we get a daily reprieve contingent upon the maintenance of our spiritual condition.”
I’m grateful to have God in my life…now and forever.
