A Grant study done over a 75-year period determined that love is the secret to a fulfilling life, which probably comes as no surprise to you.

In fact, one man named Godfrey went into the study with bleak prospects for life satisfaction. He had the lowest rating for future stability and had previously attempted suicide. At the end of his life he was one of the happiest participants in the study. Why? Because he said he spent his life “searching for love.”

We are told in 1st Corinthians chapter 13 that if we give all we have to the poor and sacrifice to help others yet we don’t have love, we are useless.

Similarly, working 80 hours a week to provide for our family without showing love can be equally as futile.

Yet all too often tragedy, death, or illness has to occur before we understand what really matters?

My guess is we get caught up in the “tyranny of the urgent” and the most pressing issue takes precedence over everything else. We just assume that we’ll have more time later…until we don’t.

“I love you.”

If today was your last day on earth, who would you need to say those words to?
